Pictures Galore

We visited an amethyst mine in Thunder Bay today. The gems lay on the ground just ready to be picked up. We got a bucket and searched for "jewels". The cost was $3 per pound. We bought about ten pounds, total. I searched for the red gems which are the most rare.

The bigger rocks on the tables are also for sales, mainly used in landscaping.

At the mine, they pick out the best for themselves, then throw the rest of the dirt on the ground for the tourists to dig through.

Cool truck...!

Here is the mine vein.

  4. Yeah, we bought rocks. We laughed about buying rocks. The falls are just west of Thunder Bay.
